Letter: Resident wants to serve on commission
Mary A. Craig
Mar. 12, 2016 12:00 am
I got a chuckle when I read 'Cedar Rapids seeks applicants for boards and committees” in the March 2 edition.
I chuckled because for the last 15 years I have been seeking a position on the Veterans Memorial Commission. In those 15 years of filling out applications I have yet to receive a phone call or interview.
Silly me. I only honorably served my country in the U.S. Air Force, which I have since retired from. During which I received numerous decorations and had an outstanding military career. In my tenure with the U. S. Air Force, I was hand selected to be a member of the elite Inspector General team.
But what they don't know is they can't silence me. I didn't proudly serve my country to come home and sit back and not be a concerned citizen.
