She graduated from Mystic High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo., earning her degree in English and speech. Jeanne was a lifelong teacher, starting in Garden Grove, then accepting a position at Belle Plaine High School in 1951. On June 20, 1953, she married Stephen Malcolm. Together the couple moved to Marengo, where Jeanne taught for a year before moving back to Belle Plaine until retirement. With her love of teaching, she continued many years past retirement, working as a speech and drama coach and director of high school musicals. She also did clerical work for Grieder Standard Service and the Belle Plaine City Hall.
Jeanne was very active in her community as a member of P.E.O. (50-year member), Portia Club, Athena Club, Eastern Star, Band Boosters, president of the Belle Plaine Community Center, Belle Plaine Christ United Methodist Church Women's Group and an election poll worker for many years.
She enjoyed playing bridge and entertaining. Her greatest love was spending time with her children through attending their many activities and traveling for visits.
She is survived by her children, Ann Malcolm Holeczy of Basel, Switzerland, Stephanie (Nick) Malcolm Quartaro of Somerset, N.J., and Mitch Malcolm of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Endre and Lena Holeczy and Andria and Tony (Nora) Quartaro; great-grandchildren, Carson and Gemma Quartaro; along with many more loving family and friends.
