Committee plans second meeting on Libertarian candidate's Iowa ballot challenge

A committee of three Iowa officials has set another meeting for Wednesday morning to further consider whether Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson should be listed on the November ballot.

Documents challenging Johnson's candidacy were filed Friday by two Iowa voters. Jay Kramer, who said he is the Election Day operations director in Iowa for Mitt Romney's campaign, signed the document as a witness.

The committee - made up of Republican Secretary of State Matt Schultz, Democratic Attorney General Tom Miller and Warren Jenkins, the chief deputy for Republican Auditor David Vaudt - heard arguments Monday.

A decision must be made quickly because candidates have to be certified for Iowa's ballot by 5 p.m. Wednesday and a court challenge of the group's decision is likely.
