Richard Lowell Jackson, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Nov. 5, 2016, with his loving family by his side.
A celebration of life will
be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Private family inurnment will be Friday, Nov. 18, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Richard was born May 27, 1932, to Guy and Vivian (Morse) Jackson in New Boston, Ill. He graduated from New Boston High School in May 1950. In February 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy. He married Margaret Ann Manning on Jan. 22, 1956, in St. Louis. Richard graduated in June 1959 from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. He enjoyed a long successful career with Collins Radio/Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids.
After his retirement, he kept busy with volunteer work at many of the local non-profit organizations. He filled his spare time spoiling his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his children, Daniel (Sherry) Jackson, Thomas (Sally Krisel) Jackson, Ron Jackson and Suzannah (Jonathan) Moore; grandchildren, Jackson Moore, Delaney Krisel, Callahan Moore, Cameron Moore, Gillian Moore, Michael Moore, Ben (LaRaina) Patrick, Nick Patrick and Brianna Mata; and one great-grandchild, Marco.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kathy; and his brother, David.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Linn Community Food Bank.
