MICHAEL GENE YODER
Cedar Rapids
Michael Gene Yoder, 62, of Cedar Rapids, passed over to his final home on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital after surgical complications.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity-St. James United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carol Sundberg. A luncheon will follow the service. Please wear casual attire. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Michael is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Aaron Wilder of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Lonnie (Teresa) of Harrisonburg, Va., and Denny (Becky) of Wellman; sister, Minnie (Tom) Richardson of Oskaloosa; sister-in-law, Carol (Bill) Reddick of Iowa City; seven nieces and nephews; three cats, Grayc, Abby and Weebles; and many other family members and close friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Beulah; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Eimen.
Michael was born Nov. 29, 1955, in Iowa City, the son of Robert and Beulah Dickel Yoder. He graduated in 1974 from Mid-Prairie High School, Wellman, and Iowa State University in 1978. Michael had worked at Alliant Energy as a lineman and floor operator since 1992, retiring in 2012. On Jan. 11, 2003, he married Donna Marie Eimen at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.
Michael enjoyed working on his Ford 8N tractor, reading, taking long walks, watching Westerns, "Columbo" and "Monk," tinkering and visiting with friends and family. He was full of wisdom and had well-articulated opinions, good old-fashioned "know how" and a tremendous dry sense of humor. Each time you saw Michael, you would learn something new. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or an animal shelter of your choice.
