Clarence man seriously hurt after car hits horse

Emergency responders airlifted a driver to a Cedar Rapids hospital after his vehicle crashed into a horse, deputies said.
The Jones County Sheriff's Office says Terrance Ward of Clarence was driving southbound on Highway 136, north of Onslow around 11:45 p.m. Thursday when his car struck a horse in the roadway.
Ward was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. The horse did not survive the crash, officials said.
The accident remains under investigation.
