Hawkeyes 1 of 8 teams to always lead at halftime

Oct. 22, 2013 5:52 pm
Here is the company with which Iowa's football team is running: Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, Louisville, Missouri, Nebraska and Oregon.
In one regard, anyway.
Those are the only eight FBS teams that have led at halftime in every game this season.
The difference between the Hawkeyes and those seven teams is that Iowa has lost three times, while the other seven have lost a combined twice.
At halftime, Iowa led Northern Illinois, 24-17. It lost, 30-27.
At halftime, Iowa led Michigan State, 14-10. It lost, 26-14.
At halftime, Iowa led Ohio State, 17-10. It lost, 34-24.
Here's what Hawkeyes Coach Kirk Ferentz said about always leading at halftime when asked about it Tuesday:
"I wasn't aware of that. So we finished in four, I guess, maybe not in the other three."
Missouri has beaten Georgia and Florida in the last two weeks. But its closest halftime score was a 14-13 lead over Arkansas State. The Tigers went on to a 41-19 victory.
Louisville led Central Florida at halftime before losing last Friday night, and opened the lead to 28-7 in the third quarter. Nice comeback, UCF, which won, 38-35.
Nebraska's second-half stumble against UCLA was bigger than any of Iowa's. The Cornhuskers led UCLA 21-10 at the break, then lost, 41-21.
You can't have too many DJs at halftime
