Cheryl "Cheri" Joann Croy of Phoenix, Ore., passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Rogue Regional Medical Center.
Cheri was born to parents Francis and Mavis Sheely on Jan. 15, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She grew up in Cedar Rapids as one of 11 children. Cheri graduated from Prairie High School in 1969.
On Aug. 7, 1970, Cheri married her life partner and best friend, Ronald G. Croy
of Solon. They shared 46 years together, most of them in southern Oregon. Besides raising three very sport activity-minded children, she worked for over 20 years for US Cellular.
Cheri had a love for penguins, reading, spending time with her family and friends, and cheering on the Oregon Ducks. Cheri and Ron followed the Oregon Ducks to bowl games in Arizona, Texas and California over the years in their 1972 International Duck Truck.
Cheri is survived by her husband, Ronald; sons, Ronnie (Sheri) Croy and Jonnie (Dean-A) of Phoenix, Ore.; daughter, Tabitha Croy of Lowell, Ore.; two grandchildren, Huntyr and Paityn; five stepgrandchildren, Audrey, Emily, Zachary, Brandon and Jasmine; mother, Mavis Sheely; and her nine sisters and their families: Marcia and Edward Engel, Ely; Patricia and Curt Sheely-Adolphson, San Antonio, Texas; Michelle Sheely, Cedar Rapids; Kristine and David Heeren, Bloomfield; Jacqueline and Dave Patterson, Ladora; Carleen and Jay Kirkland, Springfield, Ore.; Angela and Dave Kern, Johnston; Roberta and Paul Cisar, Bellevue, Neb.; and Melinda and Tod Keiffer, Crestview, Fla.; aunt, Bernadine Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; aunt, Marvel Hill of Marion; uncle, Charles and aunt, Virginia Sparrgrove of Strawberry Point; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cheri was known to many more as Mom and Nana.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanna; father, Francis; sister, Janet; and brother, John, and daughter-in-law, Jessica Croy.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Central Point, Ore., at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Jackson County, in Cheri's name to honor her involvement for many years.
