One seriously hurt in car-semi crash near Monticello
One person was seriously hurt Monday afternoon when the car he was driving collided with a semi-trailer truck north of Monticello.
According to the Jones County Sheriff's Office, a car driven by Dustin Wink, 23, of Wyoming, Ia., was eastbound on county road D65 near Highway 151, about a mile northeast of Monticello, at 4:28 p.m. Monday and pulled into the path of a southbound semi driven by Jeffrey Steinke, 54, of Johnson Creek, Wis. The semi struck the driver's door and front quarter panel of the car, sending the car rolling into the ditch.
Wink was taken by Lifeguard helicopter to University Hospitals in Iowa City with life-threatening injuries. Steinke wasn't hurt.
The accident remains under investigation.
