Letter: Hart understands city’s challenges

After researching mayoral candidates for Cedar Rapids, I am voting for Brad Hart. He is fresh, innovative, smart and honest. He has held leadership positions for many years and understands how city government functions.
Immediately following the flood of 2008 during a period of recovery for Cedar Rapids, Hart was chairman of the Chamber of Commerce. He was hands on with issues and worked with a multitude of government agencies and the bureaucracy of federal disaster funding. He worked in every quadrant of our city looking for solutions.
As a lawyer, Hart knows how government works. He knows what businesses need. He knows what you need from the city to make livable wages. He knows how important affordable housing is. He understands the challenges facing us with blending the needs of neighborhoods. He knows how to lobby for state funding and get needed dollars from places other than my property taxes. When he says he has a plan, he has a good plan. When Hart says he wants to fix the streets, it's not the politician line. He drives, walks and rides the same streets I do and knows we have issues.
Hart is qualified for the job of mayor and I am voting for him.
