Looney, Margaret
Margaret Looney, 103, formerly of Ely, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living, Marshall, Wis. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Friday. Interment: Rogers Grove Cemetery, Ely. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Patricia Bennett of Marshall, Wis. and Clark (Suzanne) Looney of Fairborn, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in 1979; four brothers; two sisters; and one grandchild.
Margaret was born February 23, 1908 in Ely to John and Elizabeth Clark. She married Cecil Looney on February 15, 1930. Education was very important to her. She graduated from Coe College with a teaching degree. She was employed at Collins Radio for many years. She was a Noble Grand in the Rebekah Lodge and a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Chapter II. Margaret experienced and was formed by the many changes in her life such as the Great Depression. She enjoyed playing cards.
