Hajek, Charles J. 'Chuck' Jr.
Charles J. “Chuck” Hajek Jr., 70, formerly of Tipton, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at the Truman Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Columbia, Mo. A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial with military honors will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa.

Charles James Hajek Jr. was born Feb. 8, 1943, in Aurora, Ill., the son of Charles J. and Eva (Rodgers) Hajek. Following graduation from high school in Tipton, he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He lived in the Tipton area for over 40 years working as a lineman for Qwest, retiring in the year 2000 after 35 years of services. The past 13 years he had been a resident of Milan, Mo., where he retired to care for his horses, mules and play with his trains!
His family includes his children, Jim Hajek (Jennifer) of Browning, Mo., Mindy Lodge (Mike) of West Branch, Joel Hajek of Tipton and David Hajek (Deana Drumbarger) of Tipton; grandchildren, Kody Grimm, Sarah Hebl, Emily Ann Hajek, Taylor-Marshall-Lodge, Tanner Marshall-Lodge, Maxwell Lodge, Chase Hajek and Calub Hajek; a great-grandson, Lane Robert Hebl; brother, Tom Hajek (Phyllis) of Tipton; nephews, Sean Marshall (Cindy) and Shane Marshall all of Tulsa, Okla. and Jarod Hajek of Tipton; and a brother-in-law, Stoney Marshall of Tulsa, Okla.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, LaVergne Tychewicz and Charlene Hajek Marshall; and a grandson, Zachary Marshall.
