Marshall "Bud" Dripps, 92, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Urbana Methodist Church, with Pastor Sheri Anderson officiating. Friends may register at service time. Private committal services will be at the Urbana Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by Walter J. Meyocks American Legion Post 264 and Iowa Military Funeral Honors.
Marshall Allen Dripps was born Sept. 5, 1921, in Urbana, to George and Elma (McCoy) Dripps, and was fondly known as "Bud." He graduated from Urbana High School.
During World War II, he served his nation in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Walter J. Meyocks American Legion Post 264 of Urbana, the Urbana Methodist Church and the Old Threshers.
On March 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to Thelma Nicodemus in Urbana. She preceded him in death in 2001.
He is survived by his sons, Allen (Sharon) Dripps of Urbana and Ray (Lorrie) Dripps of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; his daughter, Keitha (Dennis Cordes) Osterhaus of Hiawatha; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
