Capitalism doesn’t work for many

In my opinion, the problem with capitalism is its faulty premise.

It seems to me that capitalism only works if the participants can produce things or services that can be sold to make a profit. Some of us are bored just imagining doing that. Some of us have a passion to create something, or keep the public informed, or the thrill of seeing a child learn a new word, or the satisfaction of saving a life or helping a child heal. Capitalism does not work for us.

For the 38 years as a nurse with a BSN (4 year degree in nursing = 10 years to pay off school debt), I worked on a fixed income. The most I received was a cost of living raise, (the least was $0 x 4 years) and many double shifts and one week of vacation per year. Capitalism didn't work for me. But then, all I did was save lives, help people go home and be parents and go back to work. Capitalism doesn't reward such unimportant work.

Also, we don't have free markets in this country. Republicans hate to give welfare to even the playing field for those who are disadvantaged. They prefer to give it to oil tycoons and big banks. They also oppose labor unions. You gotta love ‘em for their consistency.
