Profanity-laced language norm for some students

A round of applause for Amy Hanisch's July 5 editorial, “Lack of civility sadly becoming the norm.”
While I am no stranger to the occasional use of an appropriately placed expletive, I am very tired of having my “personal space” polluted with a string of loud, profanity-laced language.
Unfortunately, this is true in some of our school hallways as well. Sadly, many students do not even know they are using it. In most cases, when politely corrected, they do apologize - it's just the norm for their world.
I would suggest that people adapt Shakespeare's idea of insults. Be creative: “Fie, beware thy sting, thou paunchy, swag-bellied harpy!” In the meantime, keep up the good work, Amy.
