Shirley R. Herb, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Living Center East. Per Shirley's request, there will be no visitation or service. Iowa cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her two sons, Jerry (Pauline) and Richard (Kandi), both of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Jo Ann, Mary and Joyce; and a son-in-law, Kyle Koopmans of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. She also is survived by four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her former husband, Duayne Herb. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Koopmans.
Shirley was born on May 12, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Albert and Pauline Parmer Swearingen. She married Duayne Herb on March 16, 1963, in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced.
Shirley worked in various departments at Target and retired from there after more than 20 years of service.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed the time spent with her beloved family and many friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to your local library or reading club in Shirley's name.
