Wisconsin safety says trip to Kinnick is 'personal'
Oct. 21, 2010 6:02 pm
Wisconsin safety Jay Valai is known for sharing his opinions, and he wasn't shy about expressing them when it comes to Iowa.
Valai told www.Madison.com that it was a "terrible feeling" when fans rushed the field after Iowa's 38-16 win against Wisconsin at Kinnick Stadium in 2008. Valai was a former Iowa commit before picking Wisconsin.
Valai did say Iowa's fans weren't as rough on him as they were to former Marion native and Wisconsin basketball player Jason Bohannon, son of former Iowa Rose Bowl quarterback Gordy Bohannon.
Iowa receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos (15, center) is tackled by Wisconsin's Jay Valai (2) and Niles Brinkley (29) after a reception for a first down in the second quarter of their game at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009. (Liz Martin/The Gazette)
