Property taxes are too high

To the editor:
Undoubtedly, what is needed in Linn County and perhaps all of Iowa is a real estate property owners union. This union would include all people who own real estate property.
This property owners union would determine how much the fair amount value for taxes would be on properties.
The current property tax assessments are pushing taxes to dangerous no sell levels on properties. No sell levels meaning property owners even with no mortgage are paying ridiculous monthly rates that deter selling and owning.
What is needed is one flat rate never to increase. This would eliminate ridiculous tax assessments and all unneeded administrative waste.
No entity who has no vestment in your property should have the right to dictate your taxes.
