Governor Chet Culver will visit Cedar Rapids today to make an announcement on Iowa's disaster recovery efforts and the state's action plan for $517 million in federal Community Development Block Grant funds. He is flying into The Eastern Iowa Airport after traveling to Washington, D.C., where he discussed Iowa's disaster recovery efforts with administration officials. The Governor will hold a brief media availability in the terminal building.
Culver then travels to Iowa City for a special ceremony honoring Grant Wood as the latest recipient of the Iowa Award, the state's highest civilian honor. Governor Culver announced in August that the Anamosa-born legendary artist Grant Wood, who died in 1942, would receive the award. The event is by invitation only.
