LaVonne Frances (LaBarge) Hoeft, 94, a resident of Living Center East, died there Friday, Sept. 30, 2016. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
LaVonne was born July 6, 1922, in Calmar, Iowa, to Carrie (Larson) and Frank LaBarge. The oldest of two daughters, LaVonne graduated as valedictorian of Calmar High School in 1940 and became a bookkeeper. On June 24, 1946, she married John C. Hoeft and resided in Cedar Rapids for over 60 years. LaVonne was the matriarch of the family and enjoyed spending time with her family.
LaVonne is survived by her four children, Sue Feddern and Becky (Rod) Meier, both of Cedar Rapids, Jan (Tom) Kay of Davenport and Tim (Dawn) of Burnsville, Minn. She also is survived by seven grandchildren, Cory (Patrick) Daugherty, Kelly (Michael) Wilson, Dawn (Andy) VanDorston, Bret Feddern, Matt Kay, Robyn (Dan) Leiby and Morgan (Erik Stoa) Hoeft; 11 great-grandchildren, Chase and Quinn Wilson, Bree Feddern, Maclaine and Makinley Daugherty, Kylie Kay, Makenna, Addison, Ellie Leiby, Alexis Miller and Cole VanDorston; and three nieces, Karee, Gaye and Kendy.
Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents; sister, JoAnn; and husband, John (1990).
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Living Center East for the extraordinary care and attention LaVonne received.
Memorial donations may be given to Camp Courageous.
