W. Jean Owen Fulkerson, 93, of Wimberley, Texas, and Sturgeon Bay, Wis., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 9, 2015, under hospice care after a short illness. A family graveside service will be conducted in early June at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She leaves three children, Jo Ann Harrison (Thomas) and Clayton E. Fulkerson, both of Warwick, R.I., and daughter, Janet K. Fulkerson; grand-daughters, Sarah and Jessica Geenberg; and two great-grandsons, all of Wimberley, Texas.
Born in Cedar Rapids on Oct. 30, 1921, she was the daughter of Norma (Gartzke) Owen and William E. Owen Jr. On Aug. 24, 1943, she married Frank E. Fulkerson at the First Presbyterian Church. In 1968, the Fulkersons moved to Westfield, N.J., and then to Austin, Texas, in 1980, where they enjoyed their retirement years.
Mrs. Fulkerson was a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over 50 years and a member the Republican Women's Club of Westfield. She was currently a member of Wimberley Presbyterian Church of Wimberley, Texas, where she had resided since 2005, living with Janet.
Jean was employed by Collins Radio during World War II and spent the remainder of her life as a devoted stay-at-home mother and supportive wife.
She was predeceased by her sister, Kathryn Zoller; and brother, William E. Owen III.
She loved her family and friends deeply. She had a great life.
