To the editor:
I have known Ann Poe since she was a little girl. We grew up on the northwest side of town. Poe's family lived here over 80 years. The family home of Ann and Glenn Darrow on Ellis Boulevard was always open to friends, family and neighbors until the flood of 2008 destroyed it.
Poe grew up with love and respect for the Cedar River - boating, swimming and water skiing. She has a heart for all who lost homes in the flood. She has a personal interest in making sure that new housing and businesses fit in with the history of Cedar Rapids and serve the needs of our community.
Although she was a westsider, she represents all quadrants of Cedar Rapids. She has been active in many projects and activities in the area. I first met this talented girl when she was cast as a child star in the Jaycee's production of 'Gypsy” at Coe College. She sang and danced her way into people's hearts then and still is a people pleaser.
She has been doing an excellent job on city council. Join me in voting for her.
