Renecia "Renny" Danford, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, from complications of Parkinson's disease. Services will be at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, with visitation for family and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, and a celebration of life at 11 a.m. Tuesday, officiated by Pastor Pierre Gibbs of New Life Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in the Fairfax Cemetery, Fairfax.
Survivors include her husband, Ernie Rimrodt; a daughter, Kerry (Mike) Donaldson; stepdaughters, Dana (David) Hansen and Erin (Tonya Bounds) Feller, and her sisters, Peggie (Denis) Altheide and Kim Zakostlecky, all of Cedar Rapids; her aunt, Rose Braaten of Anamosa; her grandchildren, Brent Danford, Matthew Monroe, Logan Feller and Paige McDaniel, and goddaughter, Ariel Owens, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Renny was born Sept. 6, 1947, in Alameda, Calif., the daughter of Samuel and Joe Ellen (Edney) Kessler. She married Ernie Rimrodt on Aug. 30, 1990, in Cedar Rapids.
Renny was employed at Rockwell Collins as an administrative assistant for the vice president of international marketing from 1976 to 1997.
She was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church in Cedar Rapids, where she was a Sunday school teacher and organized many church activities and charity events. She also was a volunteer for the food bank and an instructor for ACTS (Alcohol Chemical Treatment System).
Renny was a creative writer of poems, inspirational essays and composed several Bible studies. She loved biking, cross country skiing, cooking and cross stitching. She also was an amateur nature photographer. She loved to dance and taught disco at Kirkwood Community College.
Renny was a woman of true spiritual faith and she passed that faith onto every life she touched. She dearly enjoyed spending time with her family, whom she loved so very much.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
