Letter: Trump offers common sense solutions

Many people don't like President Donald Trump. He comes from the rough world of business where he cultivated a straightforward way of speaking and maybe even made some shady decisions which no saint would make. But, sainthood isn't really the question here.
The question should be, is he the man for these times? He just may be, if so, we hurt ourselves when we reject this lawfully elected president. The hearts of those who reject him are not with the heartland. The heartland elected him for his common sense solutions not because of his polished words or winning personality.
Time clarifies most things. I think some fear that this man will prove to be a bit like President Ronald Reagan and stand up to evil, come what may. But evil is metastatic unless blocked. Is it better to be safe for now or safe far into the future? Some credulous thinkers would endanger a whole nation rather than upset an enemy. All the while that enemy is becoming a superman because of technology. Besides, where would many be without a Reagan? Too bad other administrations didn't follow through with Reagan's ways.
Even a handful of obstructionist are enough to create the epitome of a 'House divided against itself.” Some of the same party can't even be trusted to have this president's back, they are too busy looking out for their own necks. And so it goes, some leaders wilt and a few have starched backbones.
