CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and parent Minnesota Twins announced Monday that catcher Brian Navarreto has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a sprained left wrist.
Navarreto was hitting .138 in 16 games for the Kernels. He has thrown out 14 of the 19 baserunners who have attempted to steal against him.
Replacing him on the active roster is catcher Rainis Silva, who joins the Kernels from extended spring training. Silva, 19, is from Venezuela and was signed by the Twins as an international free agent in 2012.
He played last season for the Rookie-level Elizabethton Twins, hitting .270 with 20 RBIs in 41 games. The Kernels play Monday night at Wisconsin.
