Oberbroeckling, Jeanne I.
Jeanne I. Oberbroeckling, 86, of Dyersville, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friends may continue to call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Church in Worthington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.
Jeanne was born June 25, 1926, in Petersburg, Iowa, the daughter of John F. and Hilda (Hermsen) Bockenstedt. She married Henry B. Oberbroeckling on Nov. 25, 1947, in Petersburg. Together they farmed and raised their family near Worthington. Jeanne was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children and family and no one was more important to her. She also kept track of all her relatives from her ancestors to her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include five sons, Wayne Oberbroeckling of Worthington, Earl (Debbie) Oberbroeckling, Ron (Sharon) Oberbroeckling and Dean (Connie) Oberbroeckling, all of Dyersville, and Al (friend Kris Read) Oberbroeckling of Monticello; three daughters, Mary Lou Vorwald of Dyersville, Milly Thissen of Bloomington, Minn., and Elaine Oberbroeckling of Dubuque; eight grandchildren, Scott Vorwald, Jeremy (Lori), Bret (April), Eric (Mandy), Travis, Adam (Jenni), Kari and Joshua Oberbroeckling; seven great- grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Pearl Meier of Dyersville, Arlene (Ambrose) Langel of Manchester, John (Dorothy) Bockenstedt of Cedar Rapids, Walter (Mary) Bockenstedt of Dubuque, Vernon Bockenstedt of Colesburg, Virgil (Sue) Bockenstedt of Eyota, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Valeria Bockenstedt of Petersburg; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Barb) Oberbroeckling of Cedar Rapids, Theresa (Herman) Mueller of Guttenburg, Mary Ann (Virgil) Hermsen of New Vienna and Patricia (Joe) Wulfekuhle of Petersburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry in 1997; a grandson, Jeff Vorwald; two sons-in-law, James Vorwald and Herman Thissen; a brother, Irvin Bockenstedt; and brothers- and-sisters-in-law, Victor Meier, Sharon Bockenstedt, Gregory Oberbroeckling in infancy, Albert and Leonard Oberbroeckling, Betty Loeffelholz, Louis Loeffelholz and Lucille (LeRoy) Loeffelholz
