Lawrence Claus Danker,
85, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Monday,
Oct. 2, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with visitation one hour before the service. Private family
burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lawrence was born Dec. 1, 1931, the son of Rudolph and Eva (Adams) Danker in Poweshiek County. He graduated from Hartwick High School in 1949. Lawrence served with the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean conflict. On April 28, 1956, he married Ona Schultz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Lawrence was a member of the American Legion and the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife, Ona Danker; two sons, Larry (Lorie) Danker and William (Cyndy Houser) Danker; one granddaughter, Stephanie Danker; and four sisters, Evelyn Dorman, Joanne Carl, Carol Siems and Marilyn Prenosil.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lyle Danker; and sister, Jean Hackett.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Lawrence.
