Walker Sr., Russell E.
Russell E. Walker Sr., 72, of 3614 Bel Air Dr. SE, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; a son, Russ Jr. (Karis) of Reedsburg, Wis.; five daughters, Peggy (Richard) DeMeulenaere of Cedar Rapids, Kris Hagan of Cedar Rapids, Jackie (Tim) Pietan of Des Moines, Kathleen DeBrower of Keystone and Jenny (Ian) Walker Davison of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Marion Seago of Fayette; 10 grandchildren and eigh great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Charlotte Ault; a grandson, Patrick DeBrower; and a daughter, Patty Walker.
Russ was born Feb. 7, 1939, in Arlington, the son of Ervin and Esther (Stanford) Walker. He married Judy Boleyn on Dec. 14, 1955, in Arlington. Russ worked for the Chicago Great Western, The Rock Island, Chicago North Western and the Union Pacific Railroad as a customer service representative for 43 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the Railroad Union BRAC. Russ enjoyed hunting, especially deer, fishing, playing softball, telling jokes and making people laugh.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his beloved family and many friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
