Rita A. Reasoner, 79,

of Iowa City, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at Iowa City Rehab & Health Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Iowa City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Rita was born on Dec. 3, 1936, in Maloy, Iowa, the daughter of John D. and Mary (Shay) Warin. She was united in marriage to Ken Reasoner on June 6, 1959, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Maloy. Rita was a vocal music teacher for St. Malachy's grade school in Creston for eight years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, PTA and assisted the Altar and Rosary Society with funeral luncheons. She was a soloist and organist for 38 years at Holy Spirit and St. Malachy's. Rita was a people person and enjoyed volunteering in her parish and community. Rita loved music, reading, and visiting with friends and family.

Rita is survived by her husband, Ken; six children, Mike (Margaret) Reasoner of Creston, Dan (Andrea) Reasoner of North Liberty, Beth (Mark) Geis of West Des Moines, Father Mark Reasoner of Cedar Rapids, Meg (Joe) Corbin of Iowa City and Mary Reasoner of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren, Will (Allison) Reasoner, Annette and John Reasoner, Chris, Ben and Emily Reasoner, Matt and Sarah Geis and Georgia and Lucy Corbin; and two sisters, Rosemary Leonard of Atlantic and Joan Roets of West Des Moines.
