Manchester man's trial in pacemaker attack rescheduled for June

The trial of a 33-year-old Manchester man accused of cutting out his father's pacemaker in 2009 was reset this week to June 8 in Delaware County District Court.
Jesse Fierstine was found competent to stand trial in February. A judge ordered this fourth evaluation back in September because there were conflicting results in three previous evaluations.
Fierstine, charged with attempted murder and willful injury, is accused of trying to cut the pacemaker from his father's chest during an argument in April 2009.
Fierstine's relatives told The Gazette after his arrest that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was not taking his medication at the time of the incident.
Charles Fierstine, who recovered from the assault after treatment at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, died last year.
A pre-trial conference is also set April 25.
