Kephart, Jeanne Elaine Furman

Jeanne Elaine Furman Kephart, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, in her San Diego, Calif., home following a 5-year courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Her body has been cremated and will be placed with her husband's in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Lawrence) Krantz, Robert (Pamela) Kephart and Carolyn (Jack) Noble, all of the San Diego area; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Dwayne Kelley of Cedar Rapids; six nieces; six nephews; cousin, Judith Pinch of Phoenix, Ariz.; and cousins, Richard (Linda) Oldfield and Douglas (Nancy) Oldfield of Wellman.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Daniel; parents; and sister, Mary Lou Furman Walkner Brown.

Jeanne was born Dec. 16, 1930, in Wellman, Iowa, to Harold Francis and Ethel Anita (Jarvis) Furman. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948. She married Robert M. Kephart on Nov. 20, 1949, in Cedar Rapids and was a Navy wife for almost 31 years.

She will be greatly missed by a loving family.
