Brewster, Louise
Louise Brewster, 79, of West Covina, Calif., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, following a short illness. Funeral services will be held Friday at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1720 N Walnut Ave., La Puente, Calif. 91744.
Louise was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Rossville, Tenn. She lived in Cedar Rapids for many years, where she was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She moved to California, where she had a career as a nurse and had lived in West Covina for 35 years. Louise enjoyed singing in the church choir and many other church activities.
Louise is survived by her sister, Anna Mae Ray of Cedar Rapids; nieces, Norma (Olen) Gibson of Blue Sprins, Mo., Annette (Del) Mallory of Cedar Rapids, Stephanie Brown of Milwaukee, Wis., and Willie Ruth Bardwell of Indianapolis, Ind.; nephews, Bobbie (Ruth) Brewster, Charles Ray Jr., and Steven Brewster of Cedar Rapids, Ernest Brewster of Iowa City, Rick Brewster of Minneapolis, Minn., and Tex Bardwell of Columbuss, Miss.; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be remembered by a host of friends in Cedar Rapids and California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lizzie (Davis) Brewster; eight brothers; and three sisters.
