Blietz, Brent Ronald
Brent Ronald Blietz, 24, of Monona, died Friday, September 11, 2009, in Prairie du Chien, Wisc., from injuries sustained in a work related accident. Funeral Services: Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. The Rev. Allen Bidne will officiate. Burial: St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Brent was born on March 26, 1985 in Waukon, to Rickey Blietz and Penny (Stouffer) Blietz. He graduated from MFL Mar-Mac High School with the class of 2003. Brent attended NICC in Calmar, Iowa, for two years majoring in communications.
Brent was united in marriage to Ashley Schultz on Aug. 23, 2008, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. One son, Brodyn Patrick Blietz, was born to this union. Brent worked at Moore's IGA and Spook Cave while in high school. For the past five years, Brent has been working for the Monona Greenhouse and Outdoor Creations in Monona. He loved his job and took great pride in the finished product of his landscaping work. During the winter months, Brent volunteered countless hours to his boys in the MFL Mar-Mac Wrestling program as an assistant coach.
Brent enjoyed golfing, softball, fantasy football, bean bags, running, Chicago Cubs Baseball, North Carolina Basketball, Iowa Football and Wrestling and helping with the chains for the MFL Mar-Mac Football program. Brent loved spending time with his wife, son and all of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by the many people who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Ashley Blietz of Monona; his son, Brodyn Blietz of Monona; father and step-mother, Rick (Laurie) Blietz of McGregor; mother, Penny Bugenhagen (special friend, Don Nieland) of Monona; step-father, Dale Bugenhagen of Luana; father and mother-in-law, Tim and Carla Schultz of Monona; three sisters, Randee Blietz of Monona, Emily Blietz of McGregor, Erin Blietz of McGregor; sister-in-law, Erin Schultz; brother-in-law, Landon Schultz of Monona; one nephew, Carver Blietz-Bentien of Monona; grandparents, Ron and Bette Keehner of Prairie du Chien, Wisc.; great-grandmother, Irene Keehner of Monona; great-grandfather, Malin Schultz of Monona; grandparents-in-law, Lyle and Marion Johannsen of Monona; and numerous other family and friends.
Brent was preceded in death by grandparents, Giles and Dorothy Blietz, Charles and Hazel Stouffer Sr,; great-grandparents, George Keehner and Dorothy Schultz; grandparents-in-law, Ron and Wilmarie Schultz; two uncles, Ronald Stouffer and Dean Blietz; and one aunt, Marcia Blas.
