CENTER POINT - A man injured in a crash Tuesday on Interstate 380 may have fallen asleep at the wheel, authorities say.
Rob Loftus, 22, of Lawler, was airlifted to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday morning, according to hospital spokeswoman Sarah Corizzo. Neither semi driver involved in the crash was hurt, authorities said.
Iowa State Patrol Lt. Randy Jones said the preliminary investigation indicated Loftus was tired and most likely fell asleep. He noted that investigators were still working on the case.
Both northbound lanes of the interstate were blocked for more than two hours, causing a traffic jam more than three miles long, at one point.
Attempts to reach Loftus' relatives Wednesday were unsuccessful.
