Janice "Jan" M. Schuch, 71, of Central City, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at First Assembly of God, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Rick Gail and the Rev. Brian Pingel. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Burial will take place at a later date.
Jan is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gary of Central City; sons, Scott (Nancy) Schuch of Nashville, Tenn., and Shawn (Kelli) Schuch of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Jackie (Joe) Svoboda of Leesburg, Ga., Connie (Steve) Luker of Anamosa and Andrea (Kelly) Stick of Baton Rouge, La.; and brothers, Johnny (Patti) Rudish of Anamosa and Mike (Tracey) Rudish of Whittier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Penny Gustoff; and brother, Pete Rudish Jr.
Janice was born June 24, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Peter A. Sr. and Zona (Robison) Rudish. She graduated from Springville High School in 1965. On Sept. 10, 1966, in Alburnett, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Gary Lee Schuch. Jan worked as food service coordinator from 1986 to 2008 at Central City Community Schools and retired from Alburnett Community Schools. She was an active participant of the Red Hat Club, "Vibrant Violets;" Tuesday Morning Coffee Club, "Bunko Babes;" and Peacemakers Quilt and Sewing Club. Jan was a regular attendee of the Iowa/Alabama Gulf Shores Snowbird Club. She was a member of First Assembly of God, Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jan's memory for the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation, P.O. Box 1248, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406; and Camp Courageous of Iowa, P.O. Box 418, Monticello, IA 52310-0418.
