Schmidt, Geraldine 'Gerri' E.

Geraldine “Gerri” E. Schmidt, 52, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013.

Funeral service: 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Marion, with the Rev. Greg Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Tim; mother, Faith Hein of Marion; brother, Timothy (Jean) of Columbia, S.C.; nieces and nephews, including Kirsten Hein of Chicago; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Steve) Daringer and Chris (Dave) Truesdell, all of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Larry Rabik of Cedar Rapids; and special companion, Sidney.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Hein.

Geraldine Edith Hein was born Feb. 27, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Faith (Strackbein) Hein. She graduated from Marion High School in 1979.

On Sept. 18, 1993, she married Timothy Schmidt in Marion, Iowa. Gerri worked at Iowa Title as an Abstract Assistant for many years, was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan, enjoyed camping, especially in the Olin area, and enjoyed all of her dogs over the years.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 915 27th St., Marion, IA 52302 and/or Mercy Hospice, 315 8th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233.
