Schmidt, Deloroes

Deloroes Fern Schmidt, 82, of Tipton, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Deloroes was born Oct. 3, 1929, on the family farm north of Calamus, Iowa and was the daughter of Herman A. and Eleanor C. (Toerber) Soenksen. She attended Wheatland High School. On Jan. 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to Clarence Schmidt in Davenport. She and her husband moved to Tipton in 1984 after farming for many years in the Bennett area. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2006.

Deloroes is survived by her two sons, Roger (Gloria) and Robert (Cheryl) Schmidt, both of Clarence; two grandchildren, Angie Schmidt and Travis Schmidt; and two brothers, Kenneth Soenksen of Marion and Jerry Soenksen of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
