Weedy ditches beneficial to nature

In response to Dorothy Ditch's wish to beautify area ditches ('Mow ditches, beautify our area,” July 28), this is not a good idea.
Our ditches are full of wildflowers, which are protected by Iowa law.
If folks start to mow our ditches soon not only will the wildflowers die off, but so will more wildlife. Bees, toads, frogs and butterflies depend on those so called weedy ditches.
