Weapons not to blame for violence

To the editor:
In response to the Nov. 13 letter 'Time to enforce current gun laws”:
I agree with Jim Sorensen when he says we need to enforce the gun laws that are in place. We need to make punishments harsher and make an example out of criminals. I'm tired of listening to people blaming the weapons instead of the individuals controlling the weapons.
There are many responsible users who operate guns for things like hunting or as a hobby. We should not ban gun use, but rather enforce the laws that are in place. Hanging signs that say the area is a 'gun-free zone” is not going to prevent anyone from carrying a concealed weapon into that area.
It's time to start looking at the bigger picture instead of jumping to conclusions. We should not try to alter a nation that our Founding Fathers established and that so many people have fought so hard to defend.
