Bernard James Crock, 81, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Mechanicsville, Iowa, died in his sleep Sunday, May 27, 2018, 16 days before his 82 birthday, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla., with his family at his side.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on July 7, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Zipp Crock; children, Carmel Crock, Teresa Stepanek, Pamela Bock, Roxanne Rogers, Debra Pares and Bryan Crock; sister, Kathleen Rouse; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest James and Catherine Claire Crock.
Bernard was born June 13, 1936, and was a 1954 graduate of Tipton High School. He married Marlene Blake on Sept. 18, 1954, and they brought six children into this world. All are still alive and living in Iowa, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma and Spain.
Bernie farmed in Cedar County and loved traveling, fishing, hunting and enjoying life with his family with a fishing pole at his side.
Bernie's ashes will be interred at Sarasota National Cemetery.
