Betty M. Strickler, 80, of Anamosa, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Garnett Place.
Betty was born Sept. 7, 1933, in North Liberty, Iowa, the daughter of Doyle and Goldie (Ellis) Schauf. She married Thomas Jon Strickler on June 12, 1965, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Betty was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also visiting with her neighbors.
Betty was an amazing cook. Betty's love for animals was very well known. She fed all the outside stray cats, birds and squirrels. Her cat, Ittchy, lived with her in her home and brought her much joy.
Survivors include her children, Theresa (Kristopher) Dexter of Washington state, Alice Ratiff of Cedar Rapids, Earl Strickler of Iowa City, Rebecca (Wayne) Hutsell of Washington state, David (Wendy) Strickler of Little Cedar, Gerald (Angie) Strickler of Marshalltown and Hidie (Daniel) Roach of Postville; four sisters; one brother; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; and a sister.
Memorial services: noon Sept. 7 at What Cheer Christian Church in What Cheer, with a potluck following. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of the arrangements.
