Lila Louise Trumpold, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at the Gardens of Cedar Rapids surrounded by her family following a seven-year battle with dementia. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Bonnie Koeppen. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Lila is survived by her two sons, Todd (Paula) Trumpold of Monument, Colo., and Jeff (Mel) Trumpold of Cedar Rapids; her daughter, Lisa (Eric) Kelderman of Altoona; nine grandchildren, Connor, Carson, Logan, James and Zoe Trumpold, Ethan Hines and Orrin, Aidan and Asher Kelderman; stepmother, Dorothy Swartz; and her siblings, Sandra (Roger) Dusil, Larry Swartz, Gary (Connie) Swartz, Debbie Matarrese, Larry (Deb) Covington and Kim (Reed) Call.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, who died Oct. 18, 2018; father, Lyle Swartz; mother, Doris Davis; and brother, Ronnie Covington.
Lila was born July 24, 1941, in Washington, the daughter of Lyle and Doris Ellis Swartz. She married Robert Trumpold on June 10, 1967, in Cedar Rapids. She obtained an LPN certificate from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Cedar Rapids, and was a paraprofessional teacher aide for the Cedar Rapids Community School District for many years.
Lila enjoyed gardening, cooking and being outdoors, but being mom and Oma was most important to her. She completely dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, and will be deeply missed.
