Expand Linn County’s ‘free fuel’ plan

Linn County supervisors have proposed providing a charging station for electric cars visiting some county buildings. Linn County has to pay for the electricity they plan to give away.
What about free gas for regular cars? This seems fair. Gasoline and electricity are both fuels. Most electric power is generated by burning fossil fuels. The smelly fumes from a tailpipe are almost like the smelly fumes from the smokestack of an electric power plant.
Along with constructing a charging station, why not construct a gas tank and a gas pump and provide one free gallon of gas for county building visitors?
Imagine standing behind two cars, one gas-powered and one electric-powered. One is emitting tiny puffs of smoke from a tailpipe and one is sitting on a 3-foot-diameter smokestack belching huge clouds of black smoke, because that is where its fuel comes from.
Free fuel is an oxymoron.
