Women’s basketball roundup: Fernstrom sets ISU’s single-game blocks record

AMES — The Iowa State women's basketball team (8-3) took down Northern Arizona (4-7), 79-63, at Hilton Coliseum on Tuesday. Sophomore Bryanna Fernstrom put up 23 points, 13 rebounds and a school-record nine blocked shots in the Cyclone victory.
Jadda Buckley added 17 points and 10 assists, with Seanna Johnson also tallying a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Iowa State will be back in action Dec. 30 as the Cyclones open Big 12 play at Kansas State at 7 p.m. (ESPN3).
UNI falls to former MVC foe
OMAHA, Neb. — The Northern Iowa women's basketball team fell to the Creighton Bluejays on the road Tuesday night, 69-61. UNI is 5-6 overall this season.
Jen Keitel led the Panthers with 18 points, shooting 9-for-16 from the field while adding six rebounds. Madison Weekly contributed 15 points while Sharnae Lamar chipped in 10 points and three assists.
UNI (5-6) opens Missouri Valley Conference play on Jan. 1 at 7 p.m. inside McLeod Center against Evansville.
