Four Kernels selected among Baseball America's top 20 MWL prospects

Sep. 30, 2013 3:11 pm
Baseball America magazine is doing its annual postseason listing of the top 20 prospects in each of the minor leagues and got up to the Midwest League on Monday.
Four guys who played this season for the Cedar Rapids Kernels are on that list, including outfielder Byron Buxton at No. 1. That was a given considering BA recently named Buxton its top prospect in all of minor league baseball.
Other Kernels making the MWL top 20a are pitcher Jose Berrios (13), outfielder Adam Brett Walker (15) and second baseman Jorge Polanco (20).
As Baseball America noted, it was a very strong league this season and difficult to crack the top 20 because of that and because there are so many teams (16) in the league.
Here is BA's list:
1. Byron Buxton, of, Cedar Rapids (Twins)
2. Carlos Correa, ss, Quad Cities (Astros)
3. Robert Stephenson, rhp, Dayton (Reds)
4. Corey Seager, ss, Great Lakes (Dodgers)

6. Albert Almora, of, Kane County (Cubs)
