Florence M. Lukes, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died March 31, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a parish Scripture service at 4 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m. An additional visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Mark (Mary Kay) Lukes of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Marvalene Collins of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gloria (Ed) Bouska of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Marian Curtis; husband, Marvin W. Lukes; son, Kevin; brother, Manual; and a sister, Marilyn.
Florence was born April 14, 1933, in Cresco, Iowa, a daughter of Clarence and Marian Curtis. She graduated from Ridgeway High School in Ridgeway, Iowa, in 1951. Florence married Marvin W. Lukes in June 1952 in Protovin, Iowa. She worked in food service for the Cedar Rapids school district for many years.
Florence was a charter member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha. She was very active in her church and hospitality after church. Florence enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and friends and traveling.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or Camp Courageous.
