Cox, Lorna
Lorna Cox, 90, of Kalona, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a decline in health. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with Pastor Doug Cue officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Lorna (Eyman) Cox was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Johnson County, the daughter of Curtis and Pauline (Hurst) Eyman. She graduated from City High School in Iowa City. Lorna was united in marriage to Gerald W. Cox on Nov. 1, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She worked in several shops in Kalona during the 1960s and 1970s.
Lorna was a member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church and enjoyed researching and collecting antiques, needlework, reading and traveling.
A fond memory for Lorna was the cruise to England that she took to celebrate her 80th birthday in 2001.
Survivors include four sons, Curtis (Wendy) Cox of Cedar Rapids, Dale Cox of Meredith, N.H., Jerry Cox of Midvale, Utah, and Russell (Sue) Cox of Clinton; three grandchildren, Clinton, Tony and Adam Cox; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ray (Ruth) Eyman of Edwardsville, Ill.
Preceding Lorna in death were her parents; her husband, Gerald on July 1, 1996; and two brothers, Dale and Glen Eyman.
A memorial fund for the Pleasantview Home and Iowa City Hospice has been established.
