Barbara I. Yeater, 89, a resident of Meadowview Memory Care Village, died there Monday, May 12, 2014, after a long illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum columbarium. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Louis (Pat) of Cedar Rapids and Lee (Linda) of Mesa, Ariz. She also is survived by three grandchildren, Tracy Hoeger, Carrie Hollandsworth and Chris Yeater; and four great-grandsons, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, David Broome.
Barbara was born June 27, 1924, in Leicester, England, the daughter of Albert and Mable Johnson Broome. She married Edward P. Yeater on July 17, 1945, in Leicester, England. Edward passed away in 1999.
Barbara worked at Link-Belt Speeder-FMC as a draftsperson for over 31 years, retiring in 1984.
She enjoyed traveling, quilting, knitting and gardening. Barbara's greatest joy, however, was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grand-children.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
