Wieneke, Evelyn Frances
Evelyn Frances Wieneke, 92, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in Mesa after a courageous battle with cancer. A Scripture service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Eugene II (Judy Valliere) of Northglenn, Colo.; a daughter, Evelyn (Jeff) Bender of Walnut Cove, N.C.; a sister, Grace Kimbrough of Cedar Rapids; and eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Eugene, preceded her in death in 1995.
Evelyn was born March 20, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Henry and Mable Stitt Matejka. She married Eugene Charles Wieneke on April 22, 1941, in Cedar Rapids. Evelyn retired in 1970 as a bookkeeper after 10 years with the Cedar Rapids Community School District. She moved to Arizona with her husband in 1978.
