Schwartz, Grant James

Grant James Schwartz, 59, of 2053 Sunland Dr. SE, died suddenly Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia; three sisters, Gretchen Swift of Des Moines, Patti (Larry) Kaiser of Ankeny and JoAnn (Dan) Sampson of Urbandale; many nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and his two dogs, Gussie and Lulu.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, James.

Grant was born Jan. 15, 1952, in Des Moines, the son of James and Beulah (Geissinger) Schwartz. He graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1970 and attended Grandview College. Grant married Cynthia K. Rodgers on May 18, 1993, in Cedar Rapids. He was the owner and operator of Cedar Rapids Janitorial.

Grant enjoyed bowling, golf, raising flowers, swimming in his backyard pool and the Hawkeyes. He was a real prankster, had a great sense of humor and thoroughly enjoyed life.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved family and his many many friends.
